Communications Coordinator – Temporary Full-Time (Maternity Leave Coverage)

Do you thrive in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment, managing multiple projects for a dynamic creative team? Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) is seeking a Communications Coordinator to temporarily join our Communications Resource Program as a full-time maternity leave replacement.
The role is key to contributing to ACA’s Mission: ACA conserves, protects and enhances fish and wildlife populations and their habitats for Albertans to enjoy, value, and use.
Responsibilities And Requirements
The Communications Coordinator will collaborate with the Communications Manager and team to plan, execute, and monitor ACA’s public relations and marketing efforts related to conservation, angling, hunting, and outdoor initiatives. The key role is to organize project requirements, engage public relations, and monitor target and brand messaging of ACA. The successful candidate will be based in our Sherwood Park office.
The successful candidate will be able to develop and execute communications plans and media events; can creatively convey the value of conservation to the public; understands the value of analyzing data using evaluation and measurement tools; and can handle a project through to completion on time with a creative team.
Qualifications
- A degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism
- Three to five years of progressive experience in communications and strategic planning; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Experience in creating and executing communications tactics and tools
- Strong project and people coordination skills
- Able to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Additional Skills Considered Assets
- Experience writing or editing reports and/or advertising copy.
- Enjoys the outdoors and recognizes the positive roles hunters, anglers, and trappers play in conservation.
